Digital Dog Direct recently worked with a self-publishing author to realize his vision for a puzzle book. Ronald Slusky has been creating crostic puzzles (which are similar to crossword puzzles) for years. To this point, the puzzles have only been available and solvable at a puzzle website, but Ronald decided to compile a printed book of 50 of his best.

The customer service team at Digital Dog sent samples of various paper stocks to Ronald to help determine the right choices for the inside sheets, which needed to be easy to write on, front cover, and a sturdy back cover.

Together we chose a white offset stock for the internal pages. A very thick black cardstock was chosen for the back, so users can easily use the puzzle book on their laps or any other uneven surface. Finally, we settled on a silk stock for the cover to make the color pop.

All components were printed separately before they were collated with the back cover. Finally, the pages were bound with Wire-O® using the Rhin-O-Tuff binding equipment, which punched the holes and crimped the Wire-O.

The finished result is a sharp, user-friendly puzzle book which is now sold on Amazon.com.
