Job Summary:    

Digital Dog Direct is currently searching for a Variable Data Programmer with experience in the print & mail industry. This full-time position offers a competitive salary and includes a comprehensive benefits package with career growth opportunities.  In this role the incumbent will perform duties as defined in the description below in support of delivering quality services to our customers.  First and second shift opportunities are available.

 

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:  

Under the direction of the Data Processing Manager, the Variable Data Programmer is responsible for the preparation, review and generation of digitally printed materials to fulfill customer print & mail orders.  The use of various software products is required to perform the function.

•    Optimize customer data files for error free variable printing.

•    Troubleshoot files for problems to alleviate production issues.

•    Repair files (e.g., correct color, handle impositions, etc.) and associated media as needed.

•    Read and interpret job tickets and ask for clarification if required.

•    Produce print ready data for the digital printing and mail processing departments.

•    Program and prepare jobs for printing using Print Shop Mail, Adobe and other software applications.

•    Adhere to quality control guidelines while performing all duties.

 

Qualifications:

•    Must be high energy, enthusiastic and a proactive self-starter individual.

•    Detail oriented, strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude.

•    Good communication and organizational skills required.

•    Proficient at preflight and analyzing client files, identify problems and correcting prior to printing.

•    Ability to manipulate customer data according to specifications.

•    Capable of both working independently and as a team member in a collaborative environment.

•    Strong PC/MAC skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite.

•    Experience with variable digital print and variable data page composition, 

•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

•    3 years relevant industry experience

•    Previous background in prepress and digital print experience.

•    Understanding of USPS regulations

•    Printshop Mail & BCC software experience a plus.

•    Knowledge of database applications (dbase or similar).

•    Program & Scripting experience.
