NewsThe Postal Service™ recently announced proposed price changes which would take effect January 21, 2018 if approved by the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC). The new prices would include a one-cent increase in the price of a First-Class Mail® Forever® stamps, postcard stamps, and metered letters.

According to the Domestic Mail Manual (DMM®) Advisory, “Mailing Services price increases are limited based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI), while Shipping Services prices are adjusted strategically, according to market conditions and the need to maintain affordable services for customers”.

The proposed Mailing Services price changes include:

Letters (1 oz.)
Current: 49 cents; New: 50 cents

Letters additional ounces
No change

Letters (metered)
Current: 46 cents; New: 47 cents

Outbound International Letters (1 oz.)
No change

Domestic Postcards
Current: 34 cents; New: 35 cents

The proposed domestic Priority Mail Flat Rate® retail price changes are:

Small Flat Rate Box
Current: $7.15; New: $7.20

Medium Flat Rate Box
Current: $13.60; New: $13.65

Large Flat Rate Box
Current: $18.85; New: $18.90

APO/FPO Large Flat Rate Box
Current: $17.35; New: $17.40

Regular Flat Rate Envelope
Current: $6.65; New: $6.70

Legal Flat Rate Envelope
Current: $6.95; New: $7.00

Padded Flat Rate Envelope
Current: $7.20; New: $7.25
